Job Description

Lanterns is an independent studio based in Tunis, Tunisia, with a passion for creating compelling stories. We are currently offering an internship opportunity for Concept Artists to help us bring our projects to life.

The daily life of a Concept Artist Intern at Lanterns:

  • Sketch, draw, and design art concepts to bring the vision of the director to life.
  • Create environments, characters, objects, and atmospheres to define the visual style of the comics.
  • Produce storyboards to plan out the flow of the comic, including key scenes, camera angles, and character poses.
  • Break down scripts into visual elements, ensuring clear storytelling through illustrations.
  • Collaborate with writers and the team to balance the visual narrative and dialogue.
  • Use digital drawing tools like Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or other software commonly used in comics production (e.g., Procreate, Krita).
  • Develop rough sketches and refine them into polished artwork for final production.
  • Make necessary changes to ensure the work aligns with the artistic vision.
  • Carry out all other related tasks involved in comic production.

Job skills

What it takes to make it:

  • Strong drawing and illustration skills, with a solid portfolio demonstrating concept art proficiency.
  • Experience in creating character designs, environments, and objects.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, architectural elements, and mechanical design.
  • Strong understanding of image composition and storytelling through visuals.
  • Ability to adapt styles and work within the artistic direction of the project.
  • Keen observation and research skills to inform and enhance artwork.
  • Familiarity with 3D software for reference or integration.
  • Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally within a team.
  • Comfortable working in an iterative process, open to feedback and revisions.
