Job Description
Lanterns is an independent studio based in Tunis, Tunisia, with a passion for creating compelling stories. We are currently looking for concept artists to help us bring our projects to life.
The daily life of a Concept Artist at Lanterns:
- Sketch, draw, and design art concepts to bring the vision of the director to life;
- Create environments, characters, objects, and atmospheres to define the visual style of the comics;
- Produce storyboards to plan out the flow of the comic, including key scenes, camera angles, and character poses;
- Break down scripts into visual elements, ensuring clear storytelling through illustrations;
- Collaborate with writers and the team to balance the visual narrative and dialogue;
- Proficiency in using digital drawing tools like Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or other software commonly used in comics production (e.g., Procreate, Krita);
- Develop rough sketches and refine them into polished artwork for final production;
- Make necessary changes to ensure the work aligns with the artistic vision;
- Carry out all other related tasks involved in comic production.

Job skills
What it takes to make it:
- Strong drawing and illustration skills, with a solid portfolio demonstrating concept art proficiency;
- Experience in creating character designs, environments, and objects;
- Knowledge of anatomy, architectural elements, and mechanical design;
- Strong understanding of image composition and storytelling through visuals;
- Ability to adapt styles and work within the artistic direction of the project.
- Keen observation and research skills to inform and enhance your artwork;
- Familiarity with 3D software for reference or integration;
- Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally within a team;
- Comfortable working in an iterative process, with an openness to feedback and revisions.
